POINTS OF INTEREST
These cliff dwellings were built in shallow caves under ledges of limestone by Pueblo Indians about 800 years ago.
It is prohibited to walk off designated trails. The Island Trail includes a 185-foot climb at an altitude of nearly 7,000 feet altitude. A paved foot trail leads to 25 of the cliff dwellings, and the others can be seen from the trail.
